So it’s #WorldChocolateDay (the 2nd best day of the year, after World Whisky Day) and we thought we’d look into some perfect whisky and chocolate matches that you can try at home. If you study a chocolate flavour wheel, it might remind you very much of a Scotch whisky flavour wheel (they could almost be cousins)! Many of the flavours and aromas you recognise in your favourite chocolates are similar to those flavours and aromas found in many Scotch whiskies, which makes pairing them all the more sweet.
But which chocolates should you pair with which whiskies? Well it is of course, as always, down to personal taste, but we asked some of our team what their favourite chocolate and whisky pairings were at the moment. So read on for some delicious inspiration:
Green & Blacks Organic Dark Chocolate, paired with an Ardbeg Wee Beastie – rich & smoky!
Katie, Accounts Assistant
A nice dark raspberry Lindt chocolate paired with a sherried whisky, maybe a Glendronach or an Edradour
Mike, Visitor Assistant
The Coco Salted Caramel chocolate we sell in the shop works really well with the Bunnahabhain 12yo!
Lucy, Visitor Assistant
The Tony’s Chocolonely Salted Caramel, matched with a nice Glenfarclas 105
Charlie, Visitor Assistant

I really like an Aero Orange and match that with a distillery close to family – BenRomach 10yo!
Pietro, Head of Business Development
Glenmorangie Nectar D’or with a honeycomb chocolate – like a Crunchie!
Caroline, Assistant Whisky & Dry Stock Manager
A Tamdhu matches really nicely with a chocolate bar full of caramel
Elizabeth, Tour Bookings Coordinator
A Crunchie with an Aberfeldy 12yo
Cody, Visitor Assistant
I LOVE the Hotel Chocolat Dark Orange slab, and I enjoyed it last night with a 15yo Dalmore – beautiful!
Lenka, Senior Visitor Experience & Tastings Manager
Aberlour A’Bunadh, paired with a 70% deep, rich chocolate
Ian, Visitor Assistant

Why not treat yourself to some yummy chocolate this World Whisky Day on our Online Shop. We’ve paired up with local Edinburgh chocolatiers Coco and The Chocolate Library as we love their ethos and approach to sustainability (and they also crate fabulous chocolate!) Choose from some brilliant bars and gift boxes which match our whiskies and make that bottle of single malt all the more special.
Many people love whiskey and chocolates. Combining them is a great idea. I think dark chocolate is a perfect match with whiskey. Other combinations given by people must be tried out. I hope you enjoyed world chocolate day. Keep sharing such information in the future too.
