
Our last classic whisky cocktail – the Penicillin! This July we’re taking a look at some of the most well-known whisky cocktails out there! Each week we will have a cocktail to fit with one of the five Scottish whisky producing regions. So have a look back at our Friday Night Cocktails and give them a try yourself!
Islay whiskies are well-known for having smoky and medicinal characteristics.
Penicillin
Ingredients
1 shot Blended Scotch whisky
1 shot smoky Islay Scotch whisky
1/2 shot ginger liqueur
1 shot lemon juice
1/2 shot honey syrup (3 honey to 1 water)
Lemon peel to garnish
Recipe
Take your blended Scotch, lemon juice and honey syrup and add them all to a shaker. Add ice and shake well for around 20 seconds.
Strain the mixture into an ice-filled glass.
Grab your smoky Islay whisky and float it on top. You cna do this by pouring it gently over the back of a spoon.
To serve garnish with some lemon peel.
*You can of course use whiskies from any of the other fours whisky producing regions – Lowland, Highland, Speyside & Campbeltown.
