Whisky Month 2020 – which region would you choose for lock-down?!

May has always traditionally been whisky month here in Scotland with flocks of whisky fanatics gathering at the Speyside whisky festival at the start of the month, savouring drams, enjoying good company and expanding their whisky horizons.

By mid-month the whole world gets in on the act with World Whisky Day, this year on Saturday 16 May, a great excuse (if ever you needed one) to celebrate all things Scotch from every corner of the globe.

The month comes to a close with Feis Ile, The Islay Festival of Malt and Music.  Usually you would be lucky to get  a space on this tiny island to pitch your tent in May, but of course this year peace and quiet reigns and the unique Islay wildlife will no doubt be celebrating!

May is always particularly special to us as we celebrate the anniversary of our opening on 5th May 1988, sometimes with a retro 80’s party, sometimes with a vintage 1988 Scotch, and even creating our own whisky art.

This year we started Whisky Month with an amazing staff webinar together with “The Nose”, the renowned Richard Paterson, the man behind Dalmore, Whyte & Mackay and many more delectable drams.  During the hour-long conversation with 50 of our team, Richard posed the question “which of the whisky producing regions would be your favourite lock-down location”.

The Scotch Whisky Experience team vote for their favourite region to spend lock-down

You can see from the poll which region clearly won with our team, but where out of the Lowland, Highland, Speyside, Islay or Campbeltown would you prefer to be confined for the duration of lockdown?
