Our charity work (continued…)
Following my earlier post back in September about our corporate and social responsibility, I thought it was time for a wee update on where we are with our charity partners and what we’ve been up to over the last few months.
The first staff nominated charity collection tin initiative took place in August, September and October with money raised going to St. Columba’s Hospice. After the 3 months, the charity tins were dropped off down at the hospice and we received a lovely certificate from them saying how much we had raised – thank you to them!
We were also delighted to support Poppy Scotland over Remembrance weekend and a full charity box was filled with pennies and pounds over the two days.
Next up, CHAS (Children’s hospices across Scotland); their bright red tins have been attracting the attention of shoppers in our whisky shop and in our McIntyre Bar over the last couple of months, and will be on display until the end of December.
Our staff will all be supporting CHAS by donating to the charity on Friday 15 December when they will all be donning festive socks or tights! We are looking out for the jazziest of festive socks and hope to raise a good amount for this great charity with our very own ‘Festive Sock Day.’
From the 1 – 12th December we have been collecting for the Edinburgh NorthWest Food Bank, run by the Trussell Trust. The project was founded by local churches and community groups, working together towards stopping hunger in the local area. Our staff have all brought in different items of food, from Christmas treats, right through to basic items like tea and coffee to donate to the foodbank.
As always, we like to get our staff involved in our activity, so we recently ran a blog competition, with the winner, Senior Visitor Assistant, Eoin, receiving a number of different goodies as his prize, as well as a festive wreath, made by me. The Scotch Whisky Experience has donated money to my chosen charity, Muscular Dystrophy UK, Georgie’s Genes for the wreath – such a nice touch and thank you!
Don’t forget to look out for photos of our team and their snazzy socks on our social media channels on the 15th!
